About Us

The Museum is run and operated by the Millthorpe and District Historical Society. We are a volunteer, not for profit, organisation and rely on visitor entry, donations and grants and funding to keep the Museum operating.

We are endorsed as a deductible gift recipient and all donations over $2 are tax deductible, please contact the Museum for further details on how to make a donation. We also accept donations of items, please click here for more information on donation of collections or items.

The Millthorpe and District Historical Society was formed in May 1964 and the Museum opened in 1965. Adjoining land was purchased in 1970 and 1994 and the complex expanded to what it is today.

Our Museum is made up of a varied collection of items across seven buildings. Please refer to our Complex tab above for further information on the collection.

The society meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Museum at 7:30 pm, new members always welcome.

Hours

The Museum is open weekends from 11am till 2pm.

We are open all days during school holidays and also open on public holidays from 11am till 2pm. Closed Christmas and New Years day. Other unexpected closure times will be advertised on our website home page where possible.

We are also open by special request for tour groups and school groups.

Costs

Entry to the Museum complex is $8 for adults and $5 for school children (under 5 free).

We do not offer any discounts as we believe our costs are already very reasonable. Where else can you get into a large Museum complex for $8!!!
