Donating Collections or Items to the Museum
We welcome and encourage donation of items and collections to the Museum. However please be aware that we are not in the position to accept all items that are donated to us. We have a Collections Committee which meets each month to discuss and appraise items before they are accepted on the societies behalf.
Without donations our museum would not exist and it is through the generosity of donations that the Museum has been able to expand and become so successful. It is sometimes hard to understand why we decline donated items. Below are some of the reasons that the Accessions Committee may declined items;
If you would like to donate an item or a collection then please contact the Museum. Family history information and photographs are also most welcomed. We do ask that a donor/lender form be completed to gather information on the item/s and also the donor and/or owner. This ensures we record the history on items so they are just not an example of an object but rather an object with a richly document history or story. Especially for items with local significance; who owned them, where were they used, what purpose did they server, how did they come to the area? etc. |
