Digitisation of our Collections

We were very fortunate to be awarded a grant to digitise our collection in 2018 from Create NSW - Regional Cultural Fund. This has allowed us to create our own internal database which volunteers are entering our collections onto.

The digitisation of the collections included – Social History (including Aboriginal Collection), Rural Collection (including blacksmiths), Photographic and Family History and Millthorpe Archives.

This will allow better access to the collections for visitors, research enquiries, members, community and other similar bodies. It will also enhance the understanding of our collections through smart technologies such as database queries, item categories and better location knowledge.

We will then have the ability to share online from our website with the promotion of collection for visitors and family history.

Our Volunteers and Friends of the Museum have been busy typing up many old registers and cards from our old systems which are then transferred across to the new database. Once this is finished, in the next few months, we will start working on photographing our items and updating the database records.
